Hyderabad was battered by heavy rain late Sunday night, and the city is still reeling from the impact. What started as a downpour turned into a disaster, leaving four people dead and many others struggling through the chaos.

At Afzal Nagar in Asif Nagar, people were caught off guard when the Mangar Basti nala overflowed. The sudden rush of water dragged residents into the flow. In Gachibowli, the rain proved just as brutal — a wall collapsed, killing one person and injuring four more.

The rain just wouldn’t stop. According to the IMD, Hyderabad saw nearly 10 cm in one hour, and some areas got much more. Boudanagar recorded 121 mm, Jawaharnagar 112 mm, and Osmania University 101 mm. The highest? Thatinanram in Rangareddy district with 127.5 mm.

Across Jubilee Hills, Tolichowki, Malakpet, and Secunderabad, streets looked more like rivers. Cars stalled, two-wheelers went under, and people scrambled to find shelter under flyovers. Power cuts added to the panic, while traffic police tried to divert vehicles — but most roads remained choked till morning.

In Parsigutta, Secunderabad, tragedy struck again. A man named Dinesh from Vinobhanagar Colony was swept away in the floodwaters. Rescue teams are still searching for him.

By Monday morning, Hyderabad woke up to submerged homes, blocked roads, and an uneasy calm. For many, this rain wasn’t just another spell of monsoon weather — it was a night they’ll never forget.
